Usher on Broadway!!!

Jenny flew in for the weekend for some healthy dose of Broadway...we headed for TKTS to catch a matinee and lo and behold, there it was. Usher in a crisp suit, in all his Usher-dom for a Chicago ad!!! We both went..."Usher! Chicago! OH MY GOD!".

And that sort of decided it. We would head back to TKTS and find out if there were any Chicago tickets on sale.

There were five of us watching the matinee show for The Producers, but only us two were determined to see THE man himself. So we got in line early evening and got us two tickets, in separate seats at 25% off. Okay, so we cant gush together, but at least there wont be a pool of drool at our feet.

We got the worst seat in the house but we were seated anyway, while a whole bunch were standing (yes, they had SRO seats! er...tickets :p). It was a packed house, and no wonder since Usher only started Tuesday...

Long story short, we got to see him perform, heard him add his own flavor to the Billy Flynn songs and saw him make his moves onstage...I wouldve loved to wait for him outside the theatre, but dozens of others had the same thing in mind. So after the show, I got my programme and left singing Chicago songs in my head.

Overall, I loved it better than the Producers. Not only because of Usher, but because the songs were great, the performers were really very good, the choreography was powerful and the cast was simply awesome.

I can leave New York feeling very fulfilled. :)
